Change Of Name

Hi blogging friends!!!
Have made the decision to change my name to Possum - and this space of mine shall hence forth be known as "Possum's Place".
My newly found sister started calling me Possum soon after I found her - which I think is pretty neat!! (remember - Possums down here are cute and cuddly - NOT a menace to society!!)
Plus I'm just trying to make it a little harder to find ME on the net.
(although, on a personal note - I am making progress on finding ME in the real world!!)
Please could you change your links to show Possum - when you get the chance.
Thanks ever so much.
(hey - my name was changed by strangers at birth anyway - so now I'm taking control!!!! LOL)
Cheers,
Possum. xx

Hmmm, in the states there is a phrase.."playing possum" meaning you are playing dead.

I can draw a parallel to that in adoption...many are asked to "play dead". Have your first self play dead, your natural parents play dead, etc. I like it.

Possum? Cool. Will change the links to be that now. Is it special having a nickname from your sister?

Heh.... I like your name. I like your little remark about having your name changed by strangers at birth. I feel simalarly, and am having my real name changed (well my middle name anyway) back to the one my meemo, and rightful mom, gave me!!!

Hey there,
love the name..and can relate to how special it feels to be given a nickname by someone we care about.
When I met my birth father he talked of how I did not crawl as a baby ( I was not given up until 1 week after my first birthday)..anyways...he said I used to bump around on the floor on my bottom....so after that in letters back and forth between he and I ..he would call me "Bumper" and I would call myself "Bumper" I loved the way it made me feel....

Enjoy the name Possum!!!!

Alex - yes - I must plant some gladioli for spring!!! LOL

J - glad you like it!!!

Jessie - very cool about changing your middle name for real. And that you even know what name your mum gave you............I hope for that knowledge one day.

Theresa - wish I was changing my name for real like Jessie - that would be very cool.

Addie - haven't been to Missouri in this lifetime!! (is that an invitation????)

Quinn - 'bumper' is very cute - and I can just feel the love when you talk about your Dad. (((Quinn)))

Mia - thanks my lovely!!

Paula - I'm so very happy to have J in my life at last. The nic is just another added bonus!!

actonb - I'll take your slightly retro/slightly funky!!?? Bit of a bonus really - when I wasn't even trying for it! Just wanted to come up with something quick - and 'poof' there it was. (as you can probably tell - I'm a bloody creative genius. mmmm perhaps I'm wasting my time on a teaching degree at Uni???!!!) whoops - did I type all that out loud????

Thanks for dropping by all.
You always brighten my days.
:o)

I took the liberty of finding a latin phrase with some meaning for an adoptee:

Eheu, litteras istas reperire non possum. (Unfortunately, I can't find those particular documents.)

I like the nickname. A term of endearment from your Sis. Another connection :)

Possum: the literal translation of the word "possum" from latin to english is:

to be able, avail, to be capable, have influence

That would be you dear possum!! :)

Hojo - nice to see that you haven't fallen off the end of the earth!! LOL. I'd love to read any new posts.
Thanks for dropping in.

Dearest LeRoy, my Latin Learn-ed Friend!!!
I think that is so very cool.
(and I had NO idea!! - did you notice the blonde hair??!!)
I like that my new nic has so many different meanings - on so many different levels.
Thankyou for taking the time to dig out a few more.

Big hugs - and have a GREAT weekend - Poss. xxx

Hi Possum-
That's so sweet that you're sister gave you a nickname - what an awesome gift. Personally I think they're cute - don't know if I would want one in my house though - might cause some chaos with the dog and cats.
